Ohio State Schedule

A first-ever clash with Western Kentucky awaits Ohio State in college football Week 3 as the Buckeyes seek to kickstart their 2023 campaign. They may be 2-0 through the opening two weekends of the season, but Ryan Day’s team has been far from impressive.

The decision to name Kyle McCord the starter late in the process has seen a rusty start offensively.

Ohio State will look to build on a 35-7 win against Youngstown State in what could be a high-scoring affair against Western Kentucky. With Notre Dame as their remaining non-conference opponent, the Hilltoppers represent the last non-Power Five program the Buckeyes face this fall.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that means that WKU will be an easy win, however.

Western Kentucky Schedule

The Western Kentucky vs. Ohio State game is clearly the most difficult game on the Hilltoppers schedule, and for their players wanting to garner national attention, it might be the most important. Although they’ve never met the Buckeyes, they have 11 previous encounters against the Big Ten, resulting in an 0-11 headlined by five defeats against Indiana.

However, with Ohio State struggling to gain traction offensively, now might be the time to face them. Behind returning quarterback Austin Reed and a talented roster on both sides of the ball, the Hilltoppers are off to a 2-0 start.

They’ve yet to be held under 40 points this year and will provide a stern test for the Buckeyes defense before facing Troy in Week 4.
